ABOUT

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Born in Buenos Aires, Giorgio first moved to Los Angeles and later to Milan, where he currently lives. His background is diverse: he has worked as a hairdresser, counselor, macrobiotic chef, and teacher of holistic practices such as Reiki, yoga, and Feng Shui. Each stage of his journey has shaped his worldview, enriching his artistic language with a deep sensitivity to the body, energy, and space. Following a cancer diagnosis and the loss of his mother during the pandemic, Giorgio found in art a new way to process grief and transform it into beauty. This is how his first work, Knots in My Soul, was born. Since then, art has become an essential part of his path of healing and sharing details. Giorgio’s works are not made to be understood they are meant to be felt. They are offerings, open spaces, experiences to move through with both the eyes and the heart.

CREATIVE PROCESS:

Giorgio’s artistic gesture is born in the present moment, without a predefined plan. His practice doesn’t follow formal rules; it’s guided by inner listening, instinct, and emotional memory. The only exception is jute—a material that requires initial planning due to its technical complexity. In all other cases, the hand follows the impulse. His works take shape slowly, in a way that is often surprising, almost autonomous. Once the piece is complete, Giorgio spends days in silent observation, allowing the canvas to return buried images and sensations. This contemplative phase is an integral part of the process, a space where personal experiences are absorbed and expressed through matter.

MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES:

Jute and sand are the most emblematic materials in Giorgio Bosso’s practice: the former, flexible yet strong, symbolizes life’s ability to adapt; the latter, rough and raw, embodies time and experience. Giorgio blends these with dried flowers, plastic, rope, crystal dust, and other “unlikely” objects, crafting three-dimensional works that invite touch as much as sight. “Jute and sand are not just materials in my work—they are the essenccce of experience,” Giorgio explains. “Jute allows forms to flow and breathe, while sand, with its coarse surface, speaks of raw truth. Together, they create a tactile encounter with healing itself.” Texture plays a central role: each surface tells a story, drawing the viewer into a physical and emotional exchange with the artwork. The result is a body of work that communicates strength, vulnerability, and playfulness. There is no forced drama, no artifice—just a sincere dialogue between the artist and his story, made visible through forms and colors that seem to rise from within.

THE INFLUENCE OF ANSELM KIEFER:

Among Giorgio’s acknowledged inspirations is Anselm Kiefer. He shares Kiefer’s boundaryless approach and his use of unconventional materials. Like Kiefer, Giorgio weaves complex emotions into his art—love, conflict, introspection. The result is a profound dialogue between the work and the viewer, where each person is invited to confront their own inner world.
